NEWSPAPERS
Kate started as a cub reporter on the Matlock Mercury in the late 1980s after completing a post-graduate journalism course, where she was given the Bristol United Press Award. She later worked as a district reporter for the Derbyshire Times and the Northern Echo. Kate has also freelanced for the Yorkshire Post, Sheffield Star and Derby Evening Telegraph.
TELEVISION
Kate worked as a video-journalist while at the BBC, with features she shot and edited on Look North and "North of Westminster". She also worked on BBC One's Real Story and as a freelance reporter for Yorkshire Television.
PR
Kate worked as a press officer for Derbyshire County Council in the mid-1990s, writing press releases, dealing with media enquiries and organising press conferences and publicity campaigns. As a journalist, this gave her a useful insight into life on the other side of the reporting fence. Insight which she can now pass on to her clients.
